FINANCIAL LITERACY OUT IN FULL FORCE TODAY IN DC

A broad understanding of financial products is crucial to maintaining ones own financial stability.

Congress is working hard on passage of two important bills which achieve this goal: H.R. 300 (sponsored by Rep. Carson) and H.R. 626 (sponsored by Rep. Cleaver).

Additionally, Sen Akaka, a true godfather of financial literacy recently passed S.RES.121: A resolution designating April 2011 as “Financial Literacy Month” in the 112th Congress. This bill included key financial literacy language that the Joint Framework of Financial Literacy between HOPE and the Roundtable supports, specifically the highlight of the Gallup – Operation HOPE Financial Literacy Index.

Policymakers, non-profit organizations, and the financial services industry certainly understand the challenges Americans face without financial education. To see this resolve in action, join us TODAY at Financial Literacy Day on the Hill, 12:00 – 3:30 p.m. in the Cannon House Office Building, Cannon Caucus Room (345). Learn more about the event here.
